After more than a decade of rare and singular performances, the Pacific Northwest musical collective known as The Floydian Slips continue to tear through the discography of classic Pink Floyd, performing many of the iconic hits composed by the British-rock band.
Each Floydian Slips concert is different, with unique set lists and special effects, although the band has evolved into a “greatest hits” tribute during the past decade and change.
“Our repertoire spans Saucerful of Secrets to Momentary Lapse of Reason,” said founding member Paul Lesinski, “with a heavy emphasis on the 70’s heyday of Dark Side of The Moon thru The Wall.”
“We don’t try and capture the look of the old Pink Floyd concerts or mimic their stage shows exactly. However, we adopt the same spirit of creativity and freedom that they always employed in their stage shows. We’ll try any idea that is realistic and we’ve done a lot of different things, from screen projections to lasers.”
Born from an idea to play through Pink Floyd's classic Dark Side Of The Moon album during a single concert at the now-closed Wild Duck Music Hall, the eight-piece band has grown into a musical ensemble that captures the essence of Pink Floyd songs, with emphatic tone placed just right where it belongs in each song, Lesinski says.
With spot-on vocals, perfect guitar solos, epic keyboard layers and true-to-life drum and bass grooves, the real Pink Floyd experience is enhanced during Floydian Slips concerts with unique visuals specifically designed for each show (hint, hint).
The band approaches the classic music with all the swagger and attitude of the men who wrote the songs, and never fail to impress the naysayers while delivering the specific notes in the right places to please any Pink Floyd fanatic, Lesinski said.
Having performed both Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall in their entirety many, many times, set lists also include most of the Wish You Were Here and Animals albums, as well as select material from A Saucerful of Secrets, Metal, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason, all played with great care to reproduce the original sounds and feelings as closely as possible.
Band members include Nicole Campbell (vocals); Ehren Ebbage (vocals, guitar); Ned Failing (drums, percussion); Asher Fulero (keyboards, vocals); Paul Lesinski (vocals, guitar); Brendan Relaford (bass); Rich Sellars (vocals, drums, percussion); and Al Toribio (lead guitar, vocals). a movement that will spread around the world.
